Cavity Wall Insulation: About

Cavity Wall Insulation

If you have a home with cavity walls, insulating them is the obvious choice. Material such as insulating bead or fibre can be injected directly into the gap between your walls having an immediate impact on your homes ability to retain heat.

Cavity Wall Insulation

No one wants to spend more than they need to on energy. But saving money on your energy bills is not easy.

Actually it can be, and you’ve come to the right place because Insulating your walls can make a very big permanent reduction to your annual bill.

How much can I save?

The average family size in the UK can reduce their yearly energy bill by £250 if they insulate their cavity walls. Thats a large amount of your money that you could put to better use. The warmth you create easily passes through uninsulated walls, heating up the surrounding air and off it goes into the atmosphere. The Energy Savings Trust* estimate that this heat loss accounts for around 35% of all the heat loss from your domestic properties.

What is the cost of install?

The size of your home, and the type and condition of your walls are all factors in the survey to produce a report and a cost of install. In most cases the cost will be a few hundred pounds to complete the work, and factoring in your annual energy savings it will pay for itself within 3 years in most cases.

We only use installers with industry leading insulating materials, accredited by the BBA and suitable for the conditions of your property

Can I still get free cavity wall insulation?

In some cases, despite recent reductions from government there is still limited funding to contribute towards the cost of this work, and in some cases there may be no cost at all.

This is possible due to obligations on the energy companies to lower the carbon footprint of domestic homes.

Rules do apply, but you may be surprised to qualify - complete our online checker to see, or simply call us and we can check on the phone.

The install process

Our experienced team of surveyors will visit your home to collect all of the details we need to accurately price up your insulation, and establish whether any grant funding will apply.

We will take note of any factors that would need careful assessment such as ventilation points, services and adjacent structures and ensure the fitting team have everything listed to safely install your insulation in one visit.

A series of small holes are drilled into your outside walls in a predetermined pattern, and then suitable insulation is then blown into the cavity using special equipment. Once the cavity is fully filled we will fill in all holes with matching mortar so that it is hard to see they were even there.

Most Installs can be completed within two hours, leaving you with a cosy home without the draughts associated with unfilled walls. If we need to work around conservatories and other obstructions it can take a little longer to use the site equipment

Not all houses are suitable...

To recommend cavity wall insulation we would need to establish that your property meets the following criteria:

  • Your external walls have an unfilled cavity of 50mm+ between the inner and outer leaves.

  • Your property is built before 1995 ( most new properties have cavities filled when built. )

  • Your walls are not subjected to driving rain or located in limited ‘Exposure zones’

  • Your walls are not currently in need of extensive repair, or have rubble or other debris within the cavity.
